The Home of my dreams

We purchased a 1970 two story contemporary/colonial style home this past spring. I have been so busy that I have been unable to write or to comment or read others blogs. It was an amazing yet scary experience I hope not to repeat anytime soon.
I am trying to fill my home with furiture before focusing on making it all match. Young couples tend to have more trouble then the already established.
Update more later

My Treasures!

This is a beautiful dresser (the doors open up to more drawers, though one is missing) I want to transform it to make it look vintage/shabby chic, as it is at least as old as me which does not make it antique by any means, but I still love it

A Beautiful Birdcage that I got from Freecycle ( like the dresser above) and I really wanted to find a good, practical use for it. Gorgeous huh?

These pictures did not turn out perfect, but I don't care, I love these cups...

Introduction

This is my first blog about the home I hope one day to create. At the moment, I am starting from scratch, living in an apartment in Atlanta GA. I'm a student, but I hope one day to be a high school teacher. I am married, my husband is a high school teacher at an inner city school, and he is just the "bee's knees". I'm 21 years old, my name is Michelle, and this is my story (hehehe, I always wanted to say that).
I love antiques, shabby chic, from the early 1900s late 1800s. I love history, in general, so to surround myself with it, makes me probably one of the happiest girls ever. I don't have very many (if any) antiques yet, my father thinks they should all be refinished, etc, I love them distressed, and full of the flaws that give them a story, a life of their own. I made my first purchase EVER yesterday, I dunno if they are really antiqued, or not, but they are pretty. I got three tea cups for two dollars, and I just love them I am currently trying to upload pictures so that you all will have a good idea. I will post them in another post.
I have also gotten a few things from Freecycle (which is just about my favorite way to find new to me treasures and pass on things that I can no longer get use of) I will also be putting pictures of those things in that...
